Duke of Bridgewater commissioned The Bridgewater Canal so coal could be transported from his mines in Worsley and Boothstown to Salford, Manchester and surrounding areas. Another popular attraction in Worsley is The Worsley Golf Club, founded in 1894, it was later redesigned in the 1930s by the legendary James Braid. Worsley Golf Club is always in immaculate condition with their gentle fairways lined with mature trees, it truly is a beautiful space for a game of golf.

St. Mark’s Primary and Mesne Lea Primary are both popular choices for those within the suburb. Secondary school options are a little further afield, they are Moorside High and Co-Op Academy Walkden High. Bridgewater School is a little closer to Worsley, this is a private school teaching children from ages 3-18.

Transport
Worsley has multiple options for getting you into Manchester city centre. The number 33 bus will take you there, in around an hour, as there is multiple stops along the way. Worsley is close to the M60 and M62 for motorway connections, and you can use the A6 to get into Manchester city centre. This would typically take 20 minutes on a clear run, however, it’s likely that during peak times you will hit a lot of traffic. The nearest train station is Walkden, about a mile and a half from Worsley but here you can catch trains to the city centre, Kirkby Merseyside, Leeds, Wigan and Blackburn.
