With so much to keep a student entertained in Liverpool, it’s easy to feel like you can’t fit everything in! Lectures, studying, and assignments can leave you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted; exercising regularly is the best way to overcome this and help you focus.
Exercise is a natural and effective technique to manage anxiety, enhance mental health, and reduce stress. Don’t worry; joining a gym doesn’t have to be expensive. There are tonnes of quality gyms in Liverpool that offer student discounts; here are just a few that will make getting and staying in shape easy and inexpensive.
Liverpool City Council has Lifestyles Centres, and members have access to 12 different locations around the city. The advantage of becoming a Lifestyles member is that Lifestyles caters to whatever sport you enjoy. The Liverpool Tennis Centre, Wavertree Athletics Centre, Liverpool Aquatics Centre, and a variety of additional gyms and facilities are available around the city. You can also rent floodlit Astro fields for 5-a-side or 7-a-side football games.
Concession student membership costs £15 per month with access to the gyms until 4 p.m. or £20 per month with access to the gyms during peak hours. To join, you will need a letter from your University and your student ID.
UniDays allows students to get special discounts on The Gym’s monthly membership. Simply download the app, register for the discount code, and then return to The Gym Group website to redeem.
The Gym describes their offer as ‘fantastic value for money,’ and with standard memberships starting at just £15.99 per month, we have to agree. Both locations are open 24 hours a day, but you can check how crowded your gym is before you go by using The Gym’s app.
LJMU Sports Centre
This is an excellent option for LJMU students. The gym in the LJMU Sports Centre, which is part of a brand new multi-million-pound facility in Liverpool city centre, includes 120+ pieces of workout equipment, including a variety of state-of-the-art Technogym Excite machines.
