Since being named Capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool has had a facelift and has quickly established itself as a terrific place to live and a fantastic location to visit.
It features more museums and galleries than any other UK city outside of London, gorgeous architecture, more parks than Paris, friendly people, and an infectiously positive spirit that makes spending time there a delight.
Get a taste of Beatlemania
Liverpool is the birthplace of The Beatles, and there are plenty of opportunities for fans to enjoy in some Beatlemania. One of the most popular things to do in Liverpool is to visit The Beatles Story, which takes you on a trip through the band’s rapid climb to stardom, complete with memorabilia and an audio tour that takes you far into the life of the Fab Four.
Alternatively, go to the Cavern Club, where the band performed approximately 300 times. It’s also played home to a slew of other celebrities, and there’s live music every day.
A visit to the British Music Experience, an interactive, immersive look at how British music has affected the globe, is also strongly recommended. There’s memorabilia from the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Dusty Springfield, Oasis, and the Spice Girls, among others. You may also try your hand at a variety of instruments.

Take in the sights of the city from the river
Liverpool boasts a beautiful waterfront location bordered by Georgian architecture, listed buildings, and some of the city’s major tourist attractions. From the lake, you can see everything!
Joining the Mersey Ferry’s 50-minute Daily River Explorer Cruise, which takes you on a loop along the riverfront with wonderful views of the city’s skyline, including the Three Graces, Albert Dock, and the Liverpool Museum, is a traditional Liverpool excursion. Along the way, there’s an audio tour that tells you what you’re looking at. You can get out at two points to tour a space museum or a World War II submarine.
The Albert Dock
The Albert Dock is one of Liverpool’s most picturesque areas. It boasts the UK’s greatest collection of Grade I listed buildings, which house some of the city’s most important attractions, including the Tate Liverpool, the Maritime Museum, and the Beatles Story.
There are also many pubs, cafés, and restaurants to select from, and it’s a beautiful spot to just meander about.
Visiting the docks frequently features as one of the best things to do in Liverpool.
